Earth Day Giveaway: One Year Supply of Dropps

***Update- Because apparently I have no idea how to read a calendar, Dropps gave me the OK to extend the entry date of my contest. Thanks to the two readers who read all the rules and pointed out my mistakes with the dates.**

More and more people, companies and businesses are realizing
that going green is not just a trend. Coming up with ideas and products that will help us as consumers make good choices that benefit our families and the planet is no longer solely about good marketing, it's about a change in attitude and lifestyle. We have more opportunities and information available about ways to be healthier and smarter consumers than ever before, and to pass this information and attitude to our kids.

For Earth Day, I'm so happy to have one of my first sponsors back with a really great giveaway. Dropps are pre-measured liquid gel pods for laundry. They dissolve immediately, are biodegradable and are phosphate, chlorine and NPE free (that's bad stuff!).

Dropps are a better choice than plastic jugs because they take less material to produce which means less waste. I like the fact that they are six-times concentrated (instead of two-times like other detergents). Dropps has taken all the water out of the formula, saving millions of gallons per year, which is good for me because California is approaching a crisis situation with water rationing on the horizon. My favorite thing about Dropps is that they aren't tested on animals.

They come in three sizes: 2,20 and 26 load pouches. I asked if a larger size is available through Costco or Sam's. Dropps come in Fresh Scent or dye-free, non-scented and their brand new baby line. Dropps Baby are dye, scent and enzyme free. Dropps are sold online through their site, Amazon and Drugstore.com; and in Target, Wal Mart, Lowes, some Costco's and Whole Foods.

Now for the prize: One winner will receive a one-year supply of Dropps! That's 240 washloads (twelve 20 load pouches)! AND, the winner will be able to choose which Dropps formula they'd like. You can have all one style or mix and match between the three.

To enter:

1. Go to the Dropps site to read more about their conservation efforts.
2. Come back here and leave a comment on this post and tell me your impressions of Dropps or what you're doing to be more green - required.
3. I MUST have a way to get in touch with you! NoReply@Blogger will not send you a response. I will have to delete comments with no contact info.
4. Comments will close on Thursday, April 30th at 11:59pm CA time.
5. I will use random.org to draw the winner and post the results/notify winner via email and in a "Winners" post on Friday, May 1.
6. You don't need a blog to win, but I MUST have a way to contact you. US residents only (sorry!)

7. For two extra entries:
(not required) Tweet, and/or blog about this contest and leave each of your links in a separate comment (three entries total). You will need a free Twitter account. You do not have to follow me or subscribe to this blog as a method of entry (but you're more than welcome to!). Here's the URL to this post: http://tiny.cc/v3jW1

Thanks so much to Dropps for sponsoring this give away! Happy Earth Day!

  2. WoW, first of all- what a great giveaway. Being on a very tight budget, this would be amazing. I went to the Dropps sight and was happy to see that they are very informative. NO ANIMAL testing! Being a vegetarian I try to be responsible in all aspects of my life. I read all the question/answers...they have a great product.
To be more green, my husband and I opt to have one car, but take public transportation or ride our bikes...as well as walk. (Today I walked 4.5 miles to work.)
We unplug everything we can. Ex. our microwave- coffee machine
We have wind up clocks, no plug ins.
We also take our own bags to the grocery store, and have for years. I will stop there, but this is something we are really working on....

  8. I just went to the website and checked out the dropps... I saw Sandiegomomma tweet this. I think Dropps are the coolest new idea I have seen lately and saving the plastic that it takes to make those HUGE bottles alone will make a huge difference! I plan on buying them now!

  10. This is a great contest. To be more green I am using reusable bags for my grocery and other shopping. I don't run the water when I am brushing and washing my face. I take five minute showers and I have also started a Blog Talk Radio show to help everyone take steps to become green.

  11. I can't even tell you how many plastic detergent jugs I've got laying around here. I love that Dropps are concentrated and small!

As for my own green efforts, I like the idea of a bucket in the shower to catch the water wasted while waiting for water to warm up. Then use the water bucket for plants and the lawn.

  12. I love all of the plastic that these save, what a great way to do laundry!

  13. I never heard of Dropps before but after going to the website Im interested, I always worry about putting the right amount of detergent to get clothes clean so the pre-packaged pacs is a great idea (reminds me of the pacs they have for the dishwasing machine)

  15. These look great! As I am trying to change things in my house to be more "GREEN" this looks to be a winner! As I need new light bulbs I am changing them out, I am being more aware of recycling things, such as bottles, cans, etc. Also, I only by paper plates, not Styrofoam any more. Slowly but surly I will get there one day!

  16. I love this!!! I line dry my laundry to be more green, but to have premeasured eco safe liquid would be AWESOME!!!!

  22. I'd love to win these. We use reusable grocery bags and switched our shower heads to slow flow to save water!

guess the previous one didnt work

    ReplyDelete
  23. i checked out the site! I think they are cool because I hate measuring out laundry soap. I know i use too much! As far as our family, we installed showerheads that turn off when the water gets hot, so when you are heating it up, you dont run unnecessary water.

  27. THESE are the coolest things since sliced bread! I have 4 boys and a hubby that is a construction contractor. I do more loads of laundry that rabbits have babies in the spring! We are currently homeless and lugging heavy laundry soap to the wash room in the hotel is a HUGE pain - these would be so wonderful to win!
I hope - I hope - I hope! Ever see a mama so excited over SOAP!?!

  29. I was happy to read up on this great product! Living on disability is tough in these times & I sure would love to win this & be happy to know I was helping a little more with my carbon footprint. I have been recycling since before it was "cool" & have taken to unplugging most of my appliances ( made a lot easier with a surge protecter strip!) & using the "good" lightbulbs all thru the house! Thanks!

  30. I have dying to find something like this. I am trying my best to weed out all chemicals from my house. Love these!

  31. This is THE MOST AWESOME laundry product. I have a front load washer and just cannot use some products. The ones I can use (liquid detergents) leave residue which leaves a funky odor which requires using a product to clean the washer. Its a vicious cycle. These don't leave that residue and are safe to use in high efficiency washers. Two birds, one stone. Perfect! I highly recommend them and as far as being "green" they're 2 steps ahead of the rest!

  32. My Laundry room is a mess right now "thanks" to some drippy and supposedly green liquid detergent. How amazing that there is a product that limits packaging, is easy to measure, and isn't super messy.

I have my re usable grocery bags and am heading the door to shop. Wish my solar panels were more efficient on this cloudy Carlsbad Day. Little Jared is reminding his sister Destiny to shut off the lights and "give the earth a break"

  36. Oh I would so love this!! I am a mom to 15 mo old twins and a 5yr old, plus a slob of a DH at times so this would be genius in my laundry room! I love the high efficiency friendly packs, I was worried you couldn't use them for front loaders. As for what I am doing to go green, I have 3 recycling bins, a compost bin, and reusable bags for the grocery store, not to mention all my CFL bulbs in the house.

As a family we are trying to water less often and also recycle as often as we can.
    Every little bit helps.

  44. This is a first for me, I have never heard of Dropps.. I am thrilled to find out about these laundry Dropps. What a great idea. I am thrilled that I first of all would no longer have to lug the huge bottles of laundry soap home, carry them to the basement, and then haul the empty bottles to recylcing. I think these are great. I love a company that is making our lives simpler and helping our great planet earth at the same time. I really would love to win, I would share a couple of the bags with my sisters.. I want everyone to know about the Dropps.
I am trying to become more and more green.. Recycling is huge at our house, and using our reusable totes for all shopping trips.
Thanks for the chance at the giveaway!

  52. What a great idea! No more huge containers of detergent and no messy pouring required!

I am entering for my mom, not myself since I have to go to the laundromat and can't really use these. Maybe someday...

I do use natural detergent though. I have also been buying green cleaning products. Not only do they smell a million times better than all the chemicals, I'm not flushing bleach down the toilet! And not so scared to get it on my hands...

going to tweet about this right now!
